Go Ahead London 231 (PO56JFF) on route 193 at Hornchurch on 22/09/2018
These rather unusual vehicles were ordered by Metrobus in 2006 for routes 146, 336 and 367. Although they have the later Esteem front end, they are in fact East Lancs Myllennium Spryte bodied Alexander Dennis Darts.
After losing the 146 and 336 to Stagecoach London, these initially acted as cover for the 346 which had been taken over from Arriva until the intended vehicles (Enviro200s off route W19) were released following its loss to CT Plus. Then they moved on to another route taken from Arriva, this time the very short 379 until it’s new Wright Streetlites arrived. They returned to River Road for the 193 as spares to the Marshalls until the route was lost to Stagecoach.
On 29th September 2018, Stagecoach London took over running the route using brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMCs, the first new buses bought specifically for the route in 16 years.
