Farmers’ Concerns Rise Amid Protests in the Capital
During a recent session in the House of Commons, it became apparent that numerous farmers view the Labour Government as “two-faced” following demonstrations where tractor operators protested against these contentious measures near Westminster.
Tractors lined Whitehall starting at 10 AM on Wednesday, with farmers journeying from various regions such as Exmoor, Shropshire, Somerset, and other counties to join the demonstration. The protest escalated around noon with speeches followed by a deliberate drive through central London, showcasing their discontent.
The Financial Burden of Upcoming Tax Regulations
As part of this year’s budgetary provisions effective April 2026, farmers will now be subject to a 20% inheritance tax on agricultural land and properties beyond an initial £1 million threshold—an abrupt shift from previous policies where no taxes were levied.
