Still perhaps my best Turkish food ever…
In London we met up with my friend from Belgium – and we wanted to have some sort of ethnic food that is absolutely better in London than California. Indian Pakistani was one thing to consider, but also Turkish food came up while we were throwing ideas.
My wife used to live in London so she knew all the neighborhoods, and we found this restaurant Mangal 1 Ocakbasi.
Even outside the restaurant we could smell the meats grilling – and after a long wait we got to enter and stand near the entrance of the restaurant. We got to see this large Turksih guy grilling all sorts of meat on these metal skewers while wiping his sweat. That was quite a sight.
Maybe the way they display food on their plates weren’t the most beautiful artful way, but the taste of these grilled meats was absolutely unforgettable. I would love to visit there again when we get to visit London.
Location: 10 Arcola St, London E8 2DJ, United Kingdom
