The writing on the bridge

The writing on the bridge

Londoners nicknamed it the "Wobbly Bridge" after pedestrians skilled an alarming swaying movement on its opening day. The bridge was closed later that day and, after two days of restricted entry, it was closed once more for nearly two years in order that modifications and repairs may very well be made to maintain the bridge secure and cease the swaying movement. It reopened in February 2002.

The bridge is positioned between Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge. Its southern finish is close to the Globe Theatre, the Bankside Gallery, and Tate Fashionable, whereas its northern finish is subsequent to the Metropolis of London Faculty under St Paul’s Cathedral. The bridge’s alignment is such {that a} clear view (i.e. a "terminating vista") of St Paul’s south facade is introduced from throughout the river, framed by the bridge helps.
