A Muslim woman caused a disturbance at The Angel Church in Islington, England, on September 1 by threatening to “kill the God of the Jews” and screaming “Allahu Akbar.” She specifically targeted the congregation with antisemitic threats. Pastor Regan King, present with his Jewish wife and children, intervened to protect his family’s safety from the woman’s aggression. The Metropolitan Police arrested her on charges of a religiously-aggravated public order offense and assaulting emergency workers after she physically attacked them.
The pastor expressed concern for his family’s well-being following the incident, emphasizing that they have experienced multiple incidents of antisemitism and anti-Christianity since last year. However, he stated that they will continue operating as usual while increasing security measures.
Despite being labeled as an act of radical Islam by some members in the community, local media hesitated to attach this label to it. Christian Concern emphasized their support for church leaders and communities subjected to such attacks and abuse across the UK.
this incident reaffirms the need for enhanced protection for synagogues and churches against religiously-motivated attacks in various communities throughout England.
