Historic Waters and Untold Stories
The tale dates back to October 1942 when the Lisbon Maru was repurposed by Japanese forces to transport over 1,800 British prisoners from Hong Kong towards Japan. Tragically, U.S. forces struck this ill-fated cargo ship near China’s Zhoushan Islands, leading it to its watery grave while local fishermen valiantly rescued upwards of three hundred POWs.

This year marks an important milestone – celebrating eight decades since both China’s resistance against Japanese aggression and global efforts against fascism culminated in success.
